The Southern Region of the MPAGB comprises the counties of Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.
There are numerous clubs within the region; all of which are affiliated to the MPAGB. These clubs along with the region run competitions throughout the year using the formats below:
Modern Biathlon (run and swim),
Triathlon (run, swim and shoot),
Tetrathlon (run, swim, shoot and fence)
or Pentathlon (run, swim, shoot, fence and ride).
Pentathlon comprises the five sports of running, swimming, pistol shooting, fencing and horse riding (show jumping). For a brief description of each discipline, click on the images at the right of this page. For information and frequently asked questions on how to get started click here.
All the events have variations depending on the age of the competitors. In addition club competitions may include 'local' rules for ease of administration. The basis of competition is that competition times and scores are converted to points, based on published tables. Placings are established from aggregate points for all the disciplines.
